BEGINNING YOGA
Gentle

A yoga class designed with the beginner in mind. We will take you through, step by step, the exciting world of yoga with care and respect. All postures and stretches will comfortably and happily improve your body and mind. The yoga basics gives each student an opportunity to learn tools for stress and pain management to have a healthier life style.

CHANTING
Chanting in the tradition of Paramhansa Yogananana, author of Autobiography of Yogi, with an aim toward focusing and calming the mind inward and inspiring the soul.

HATHA YOGA
Gentle to moderate

Hatha Yoga, in the twentieth century, is mainly practiced for health and vitality. Hatha Yoga tries to achieve balance between body and mind. The practice can help you recognize hidden physical and mental potentials. Through continued performance of postures you will gain flexibility and strength, and learn to be more relaxed under otherwise stressful situations. Some Asanas (postures) also massage and tone your internal organs, helping to prevent diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, and hypertension. They also bring balance to internal and glandular functions. Hatha Yoga can help you cope with stress, relieve tension and deal with anxiety and depression. More importantly, it will help you put your mind in a focused state to prepare for Meditation.

HATHA/ANUSURA-INSPIRED YOGA
Moderate to vigorous

Hatha Yoga is the art of stretching into specific time honored postures to effectively unite the human spirit with the science of biomechanics. Anusara is a heart-based yoga system that integrates principles of alignment and balance. Gain strength, flexibility, and serenity.

IYENGAR YOGA
All Levels

This multi level class, taught in the Iyengar tradition, is for beginners, intermediate and advanced students. The method of study is orderly and progressive and the postures are adjusted to meet one's physical conditions and needs. All are encouraged to work at their own optimal level of ability with humbled intelligence.

KRIPALU YOGA
Gentle to moderate

A gentle to moderate Hatha yoga class with an emphasis on meditation. Kripalu techniques and movements help to tone and strengthen the body and calm the mind. This allows one to deal with everyday stress. The class focuses on postures and breathing; emphasizing safety, alignment and being in the moment.

KUNDALINI YOGA
Gentle to moderate

Class consists of rhythmic exercises and gentle stretching, including the conscious use of breath throughout. Meditation and chanting may be incorporated to settle the mind and promote clarity and calmness.

MORNING CUP OF YOGA
Gentle to moderate

These classes are a real eye opener for those who don’t describe themselves as “morning people”, and it’s perfect for those who do. Start your day the yogic way. We’ll go through a lively, flowing sequence of moves designed to get you breathing, stretching, and ready to take on the world. Rude drivers? No problem. Catty office gossip? Doesn’t affect you. That nutty guy from shipping? What nutty guy?

Caution: A daily cup of yoga can be habit forming. (All levels are welcome.)

PILATES/YOGA FUSION
Moderate to vigorous

Explore the amazing benefits of pilates and yoga together in one class. Renew your spirit with gentle yoga postures and breath awareness. You will strengthen, lengthen and tone your entire body from the core on out. Enhance your mind/body and soul with this unique blend of pilates and yoga.

PRE-NATAL
Gentle to moderate

Perfect for pregnant women to enhance the quality of their pregnancy and delivery. Class focuses on safety, breathing exercises, reducing common pregnancy discomforts, improving circulation and back pain.

TANTRA YOGA
Gentle to moderate

Tantra means "to weave". Its aim is to empower the student to weave spiritual experience into everyday life. Tantra Yoga integrates physical postures (Asana), Breathing (Pranayama), Meditation (Dhyana) and energy cultivating techniques (Prana) while uncovering personal power and joy that dwells within each of us. It is the oldest science and philosophy of man which expands the mind and liberates your potential energy.

THERAPEUTIC YOGA
Gentle to moderate

Individualized direction and action plan taught by Prana's co-director, Shay Whitman Cooper. Learn dynamic breath exercises to replenish your energy with ample oxygen, plus clean out stale, stuck areas. Be prepared to laugh loudly, and often. Find balance and strength in your body with the Anusara principles: opening to grace, building intention around goodness not criticism, energy patterns found through muscular and organic energy, inner-outer spirals, loops and focal points. Explore a healthier, sustainable practice with committed fellow students. Program is open to registered students only: it is appropriate for on-going, new, and beginning students. Class size limited to 10 students. (No drop-ins or class cards).

VINYASA/FLOW
Moderate to vigorous

A class in which each pose flows fluidly and dynamically into the next pose. This is a vigorous, exhilarating, all over workout designed to tone and stretch the whole body, relieving stress and creating a deep experience of physical and mental balance. Advantages of vinyasa flow yoga are defined muscle tone , increased mobility, improved circulation and hormone balance to name but a few. (Recommended for students with some yoga experience--please speak with us at Prana if you have questions.)

YOGA FOR STRENGTH
Gentle to moderate

Want to firm and tone your muscles? Have stronger bones and better posture? Slow down aging and improve balance? This class will help you safely strengthen your body, keep joints young and promote a healthy, flexible spine. Weight-bearing postures, inversions and gentle twists will leave your body feeling invigorated and your spirit refreshed. Ideal for people over 40 or anyone who seeks a strong, youthful body.
