YOGA ETIQUETTE
Punctuality: Please arrive quietly and on time for class.
Clothing: Pick clothing that will make it easier to stretch your muscles. A loose T-shirt and a pair of shorts or sweats are perfect for giving you the room you need to move around comfortably for each posture. Wear tops that can be tucked in so that if you do an inversion (headstand, etc.) your shirt will not float over your head. If you have long hair, tie it back or it will fall in your face and obstruct your vision.
Footwear is left at the door, which includes your socks. Going barefoot will give you the grip you may need for certain poses and allows you to feel more relaxed at the same time.
Empty Stomachs: Do not eat for at least an hour and a half before class. Food in the stomach can reduce range of motion and reduce energy level, which can adversely effect your strength and stamina as well as your ability to concentrate.
Non-Scents: Refrain from wearing perfumes or scented lotions. Some people have extremely sensitive respiratory systems. Honor thy yoga neighbor.
Electronics: Please turn off all cell phones, beepers, pagers and watches that beep every hour.
